En América Latina y el Caribe, observamos que la mayoría de nuestros pueblos viven realidades que impiden que las personas se desarrollen de una manera plena como seres humanos creados a imagen y semejanza de Dios. Existen alianzas entre los gobiernos con empresas transnacionales que buscan su propio lucro en contra del bien común y la integridad de la creación. Observamos que existe una “mafia de redes perversas” en la trata de personas, de armas y de tráfico de drogas, que promueven guerrillas, violencia, inseguridad, muerte, desplazamiento y destrucción sistemática de la naturaleza.
