VIVAT addresses Gender in Relation to Mining at the Commission on the Status of Women.
The Working Group on Mining hopes to bring to light the egregious negative impacts of mining in relation to women, indigenous peoples, and the environment to the international arena. With these hopes, VIVAT and the Working Group plans on holding two more parallel events during the remaining Commissions and Forums later this year on indigenous peoples’ rights and on sustainable development.

Millions of world citizens around the world organized thousands of vigil events relating to the UN World Conference on climate change being held on 7-18 December 2009 in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark.
Participants came from Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay and Peru. Miguel Heinz SVD with support from Bolivian members was responsible for organizing the workshop.
