VIVAT responds to this tragedy by committing itself globally. Its members have initiated effective holistic responses. VIVAT commits itself to be an effective sign of hope for the affected and infected people. Its comprehensive responses aim at awareness, prevention, children, adolescents, youth, adults, orphans and families as a whole.
VIVAT builds partnerships, stronger collaboration with other actors and bring potential partners together. A comprehensive response is saving lives. Efforts are taken to tackle gender inequality and to promote education, as they are required to halt and reverse the spread of AIDS
How can I help?
- Be informed about HIV/AIDS and live responsibly
- Educate children, adolescents, youth
- Respond with compassion to people living with HIV/AIDS (PHAs), their families and friends
- Develop reverence for life,
- Dispel fear, ignorance, stigma, prejudice, discrimination at all levels
- Design community-based movements to work with PHAs to enhance quality of life and well being.
- Create and develop networks, and links at the local and national level to influence government’s response to the needs of PHAs and affected communities.
- Protect the human rights of the infected and affected people
- Utilize the experiences of the infected/affected people to assist policy and decision makers in providing adequate or appropriate services.
- Listen to the voices of the vulnerable and marginalized people, especially children and young people.
- Support children and young people so that they can design child-friendly HIV prevention, care, support and treatment services.
- Implement gender sensitive programs, taking into account the roles of women and men.
- Address power imbalances between women and men
- Celebrate International AIDS Day — 1, December, meaningfully
